You moved into a home with a pre-existing home security system
Sometimes when you purchase a house, a security system is already installed. All the components work, are hung in the correct areas, and are ready to go. In this instance, you might see that you have to call and set up a new service contract. A Vivint installer will still show up to make sure there are no integration issues, and they might offer suggestions on an upgrade or two. It's a quick trip, and you can have your alarm monitoring set up without worrying about any new devices -- unless you make additions.
The previous owners can transfer an existing Vivint contract to your family for a nominal transfer fee to make your life easier. If the previous owners are moving to an apartment or retirement community, turning over the home security contract may be a condition of the sale.
You are looking to move and take your existing components with you
You may want to bring your existing smart devices with you to your new home when you move. That’s pretty easy to do, as modern alarms and smart devices are wireless. You can uninstall each alarm or camera by yourself or call a professional expert to come and take down everything. Then a pro will put in the same devices -- and any additions you need to have -- in the new place. The home security contract will stay the same.
